Why you should consider Football Training Overseas

It’s no secret that the path to becoming a professional footballer is long and hard. It requires focus, discipline, determination, hard work and a fair bit of luck. There are so many steps you can take, and anyone you ask will offer their 2 cents on the best thing you can do.

One of the most important steps you will take is attending a football academy. Players have certainly made it to the professional level without attending an academy, attending one if you can is a great step along the professional pathway.

A simple google search will show you a large number of local academies, offering a great opportunity to develop and showcase your skills further. In your research, however, have you considered the benefits of training overseas?

There are a high number of world-class football academies overseas that offer a wealth of opportunities – but are they worth it? Here is why you should consider an overseas football academy!

More Opportunities

Many young players are seeking opportunities overseas and getting huge benefits. Take the UK for example, it has one of the largest pools of young players trying to go pro. These athletes are competing for fewer and fewer available spots in the premier league as it’s been over 20 years since there was an all English starting side.

This why is more young players are looking for opportunities overseas, especially in Europe, as there are finding more chances of making the first team and getting exposure. Your aim should always be trying to make the first team wherever you are and training overseas may open more doors for you to do so.

Pressure Environment

Trying to make it as a pro footballer is harder enough, but if you really want to test yourself, you should consider training overseas. Take all the usual pressure of an academy or training environment, then add the fact that you are away from your friends and family and there will likely be some form of language barrier too. If you can succeed in this environment, you’ll be all the better for it.

Fresh Start

In your goal of being a professional footballer, you’ve likely already taken some steps in your local. Met many of the coaches and you’ve probably even been seen by a scout or two. Overseas, no one knows you which presents the chance of a clean slate. There will be zero expectations as no one will have seen you play before, so they’ve never seen you at worst. This means you can put your best forward to succeed in front of fresh eyes!

Diversify your Skills

Many countries around the world have a ‘way’ of playing the game. England, for example, is known for aggressive players who are always willing to attack. Brazil prides itself on individual flair and brilliance. Placing yourself overseas allows you to learn a different style and make yourself a more rounded player with multiple strengths.

Hit the Road

So, what are you waiting for? Pack your bags, see the world, and while you’re at it, take another big step in your journey to going pro!
