How Have The IPL Cricket Jerseys Evolved Over Time?

Starting around 2008, the Indian Premier League has had 13 establishments. Fans love to gather pullovers as memorabilia and wear them when their beloved groups visit their respective states. A few groups have developed their units across the seasons, with new manufacturers acquiring new thoughts. A few establishments like Knight Riders merchandise would have patched up their teams trusting it would bring karma expected to get that subtle title. But, a few groups were happy with minor alterations and tracked down whether it is necessary to rebrand themselves as often as possible through their units.

We live in an era where shirts have several large sponsor logos, yet back in 2008, the MI jersey had none.

The story goes that Yuvraj Singh, the captain of Kings XI Punjab, showed up for the toss in shorts since the team’s jerseys were delayed ahead of their first IPL encounter in 2008. Then, minutes before the first ball, the consignment came, and there was a frantic scramble in the dressing room. The player names and numbers on the original kit (above) were written in such a large type that they could be read with your eyes closed.

Is cricket equivalent to Arsenal? Kings XI keep their supporters waiting for the big win. Emirates joined as co-sponsors in 2009, and Reebok, the kit sponsor, discarded the 2008 design in favor of red and silver.

The franchise, now renamed Punjab Kings, has remained loyal to red. However, in this outfit, they came close to winning their first IPL title in 2014.

The Delhi franchise, now known as Daredevils, used a black redshirt for the first time in 2008.

The club transitioned to lighter colors of blue in the following seasons, and new kit sponsors brought their own bright ideas to the table. However, a strange orange, yellow, and white motif seemed like unwelcome intruders on the left trouser.

It was a phase for a name change, as their daredevilry had gotten them nowhere near a title. So the Delhi Capitals wore a more basic blue jersey with dark blue sleeves.

In 2008, the primary colors of the RCB jersey were red and golden yellow, the colors of Royal Challenge whisky. They were put to the test in season one, with many mocking Vijay Mallya’s “Test team.”

In 2008, the primary colors of Royal Challengers Bangalore were red and golden yellow, the colors of Royal Challenge whisky. They were put to the test in season one, with many mocking Vijay Mallya’s “Test team.”

The blow-cold & hot RCB has tweaked their outfit over the years, adding blue to the shoulders and sides. It brought out the best in Chris Gayle, the “Universe Boss,” who smashed sixes like crazy in his undefeated 175 in 2013.

Have you ever wondered why no IPL team has chosen green as their primary color? As part of its Go Green Initiative to boost recycling awareness, RCB jersey uses it once a season. And RR jersey being the pink showcasing the Jaipur city. And then all the other Hyderabad being black, Deccan Pune had changed continuously.
